Purchasing a car is a difficult experience at the best of times. Icknox motors picked me up at the station beforehand and took my wife and I for a test drive and allowed us to thoroughly check over the car to our satisfaction without any pushy sales talk. We agreed the sale and took us to there office to complete the paperwork. We paid by Bank transfer after seeing the V5 etc. they agreed to pay for a service at the main dealership near where I live and set it all up for us. They arranged the car tax online for us instantly. Altogether it was a stress free process where I felt safe and in the hands of a professional organisation. I would happily recommend them to others. This has been a difficult review to write because it’s more about my unfounded concerns rather than the service provided by Icknox Motors but I think the full story may help future customers as it will dispel any doubts they may have. To be clear, I have no hesitation in recommending Icknox Motors when buying an EV. I was buying an Hyundai Ioniq 5 Namsan Edition, 1 year old with very low mileage for an excellent price - but I lived 135 miles away and could not view the car beforehand. I was also wary because of the low price and mileage compared to similar cars on Autotrader and you know the old saying, if it looks too good to be true. . . . . I contacted the RAC to have a full inspection to validate the car. During the booking process they advised me to have the top level inspection because it included electronic checks looking for error / fault codes. When the engineer turned up he completed most of the inspection but couldn’t an electronic check because the RAC do not have the right equipment for these checks - even though their customer services agent advised me to have it and they advertise (and charge for) the service on their website. If you want to have a full EV vehicle inspection I suggest you shop around to find an organisation that can compete an EV electronic system check. I decided to go ahead and was informed by Icknox that there was a small fault that would be covered by the manufacturers warranty. As it could not be fixed before the agreed pick up date they had booked it into my local Hyundai dealer. When I took the car in for the work I was told by the dealership that it wasn’t covered by the warranty but a quick call to Icknox confirmed they would cover the costs. Good communications throughout the purchase via WhatsApp including recorded videos and a live video viewing. On purchase day, I travelled to the area by train and they picked me up from the station. A short test drive confirmed all was okay and that the car matched the physical elements of the RAC inspection report. The Icknox Motors business model seems to be based on low overhead costs allowing them to offer low mileage electric vehicles at a lower than average price. They operate from a base shared with 2 or 3 other traders with few service facilities and rely on buying really good condition, quality cars from auctions and / or leasing companies. My car was typical of their stock - a former leased car from one of the bigger business user leasing companies, 1 year and a few days old with low mileage and in good condition. As I said at the top of this review, I have no hesitation in recommending Icknox Motors when buying an EV.

Great company. They just deal in Tesla's that are a few years old and still quality cars, but better prices than trying to buy brand new. They give a real personal service and spent a lot of time with me as it was my first Tesla and I asked a lot of questions! Great communication throughout and a pleasure to deal with.
